Gen-Apple Weddings & doves

Well here's a gift-idea that I hadn't heard of yet, but am I surprized to hear about it? Not really... you know it had to come. If there's a way capitalize on the amazing success of the iPhone by creating yet more 'bling' for it... someone will find that way.

In this case, the creative genius behind the coup is Speck Products, producing Apple bling in Paolo Alto, CA since 2001. Speck was one of the original companies to market what I'll call 'accompanying products' for use with the iPod... including the iSport (a fanny pack -complete with blinking lights- for the original iPod).

"What does that have to do with MyWhiteDoves or weddings?", you ask.

Speck has come out with a universal "Just Married" case for your iPhone 4 (compatible both with Verizon and AT&T versions)... AND it's customizable. In the photo on the right you see where both the bride & groom's names as well as the wedding date can be customized.

The AB-solutely best part of all though... the doves! (C'mon now... I'm a dove guy so you had to know that was coming!).

This item is not a give-away at just over $42.00, however it IS a hard case (durability) and dripping with novelty.  It could be a good gift from bride to groom or vice-versa (guy's, you'll never forget your anniversary as long as you use your iPhone), or it could be something that is purchased as gifts for, say, the mothers of the bride & groom, or folks who contribute to the day in a special way.

The novelty effect goes yet a bit further however in that the Zazzle.com website allow you to not only customize the name and the date, but you can also add extra text or even go so far as to upload a photo of yourselves and have it printed on the case as well! (the cool factor just went up again!!  Upload one of your engagement pics if it's meant to be given as a gift at or before the wedding, or use one of your own wedding pics). Take a look to the second image (to the left) and you'll see what I mean.

In just a matter of minutes I was able to add the image file and the extra text (top right corner) with very little difficulty what-so-ever (and I tend to be a little picky... I trimmed it to be a transparent .png file so I didn't end up with the dreaded 'square' around the image).

What a neat idea from the folks at Speck, which becomes even more neat if you've incorporated a dove-release into your wedding.
